Ramblings & Such

I came across this is an email today….gave me a good laugh and I thought I would share. I will post it under “Life’s Lessons!”

Whatever you give a woman, she’s going to multiply.

If you give her sperm, she’ll give you a baby.

If you give her a house, she’ll give you a home.

If you give her groceries, she’ll give you a meal.

If you give her a smile, she’ll give you her heart.

She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.’

So – if you give her crap,

you will receive more
shit than any one human being can handle.

Love and appreciate the woman in your life.

If you have not done so already, read the previous post, Tonight’s The Night ….it’s the only hope of having any sort of clarity to this madness!
Night 1- with my miracle bar of soap attached to my left leg (which is much more prone to RLS) I go to bed anticipating my first good nights sleep in forever. Face is washed, teeth are brushed and I am in my most comfy P.J.’s ever. I lay in bed waiting, analyzing, praying….eventually falling into a deep, peaceful sleep. It worked! A flippin’ $1.97 bar of soap. Two hours later I awake to my right leg flip flopping to and fro, I had the creepy crawlys, I had the whole nine yards. So I did what any logical person would do, I grabbed me another bar of soap, rubbed my leg down with it and attached it with a bandanna! Within 30 minutes I was back to sleep. Now anyone who suffers from this “problem” knows once it (the creepy crawlys) starts it can last a few hours or the whole night long. So now I’m thinking this $1.97 bar of soap really is a miracle!
Night 2- All hell breaks loose in both my legs before I am even able to attach my little miracle soaps. I cry. I am doomed for the night. As I wipe away the crocodile tears, I put on my new little anklets. I prepare for the worst but hope for the best. I lay down, I am miserable. I try to relax  waiting for the soap to kick in….or for someone to shoot me. I am now passing the time staring at my toes guessing which one will twitch next and for how long, they are all flickering simultaneously now so the game is no longer amusing! I decide to go online, I am going to announce to the world this soap thing is a hoax. I have two bars of soap (at $1.97 each) and I still have legs flip flopping to and fro, creepy crawlys and twitching toes. Well…as luck would have it I somehow came across a website with a post that explains what to do if the RLS has already progressed. (WTF?) It said to gently rub the soap onto the bottom of your feet and then let it rest there for about 3 minutes. Guess what? It worked! Honest to God…the rest of the night was drama free and I slept like a baby!!!
Night 3- I ditched the bandannas and placed by bars of soap under the sheets…like they had originally said to do. My anxiety level was quite high as I prepared for bed as I just didn’t know what to expect. Although it took me awhile to fall asleep, I slept like a baby. Yahoo!!! There were a few times I felt a ‘sensation’ in my legs but no flip flopping to and fro, no creepy crawlys, no twitching toes. The verdict is in, I am a believer!!

These are a few other home ‘remedies’ I have tried…and that was just in the past week. Aside from the Vodka (*wink*) the soap wins. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence,  mind over matter or if I’m just crazy. My kids think it’s the latter….that’s o.k., for now I’m elated, I’m trading in my RLS for REM!!

*Update*
Night 4- Perfect nights sleep!!! :)
One month later- sleeping like a baby! ;)
Three and a half months later…still smiling! :)

I suffer almost every night with (RLS) Restless Leg Syndrome. Those creepy crawly feelings you get just as you are nodding off to la la land. You are almost a joke to watch sleep as your legs are flip flopping to and fro. If you were actually awake you may have a great chance in So You Think You Can Dance. It is a horrible, frustrating and steals precious nights of sleep from you.
So, my mom comes by today and in passing mentions a ‘remedy’ she had read in our local newspaper, a remedy for RLS. She mentions it in passing perhaps because she doesn’t realize how severe this has gotten. I grab her by the shoulders and shake her, “What paper mom, when, what did it say….where the hell is it?” Well it sorta didn’t happen exactly like that but you got the picture.
So she begins to enlighten me with her new RLS knowledge. I laugh for a half a second. You are my mom, wtf are you talking about, this is thee most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. “Hear me out” she says. I oblige. Supposedly, if you lay a bar of soap under your sheet near where your leg rests, you will no longer suffer leg cramps or the creepy crawlys of RLS. Now I have tried just about everything (including trying to numb my leg with anbesol) so I figure…..seriously, why not! I decide to take it a step further. God forbid that bar of soap gets away from my creepy crawly leg. I must take extra precautions!

I am not too sure how, or if this is going to work but I am going to give it a damn good try!! According to the “extensive” research I have done, it does really work. How simple would that be…..how amazing would that be….I’ll let you know!! I need a good nights sleep and it could just be Tonight’s The Night!!!

(I apologize for the lame formatting of this post. WordPress is not cooperating with me right now!)

I wasn’t surprised. It was all making sense to me now. I have been feeling under the weather for about a week now, I was pretty sure I was close to death…a few times. You see, I had this mysterious, even gigantic bite on my hand. I was sure whatever had bit me was poisonous. I lay dying a slow death. After about the sixth day I was determined to determine my fate one way or another. I stagger out of bed whoa-is-me and begin the search for this deadly monster. I had already determined, through my research this was not just a bug, not just a spider. It was a brown recluse spider. It’s just a matter of time, bless my soul. I walked (staggered) out back to retrace my daily routine. Hammer in one hand. Perfume in the other (I had no bug spray). That’s when I saw it, it was bigger than life and he was staring right at me. Being the photo bug (no pun intended) I am, I decide I should take a picture of this monster, perhaps it would be beneficial for my autopsy. I must hurry and do this before I smash it to smithereens and spray it with my good perfume I just got at Big Lots!!! I put my super duper lens on my camera so there would be no need for me to get too close, one more bite I could be gone within hours…maybe minutes. Be brave Heidi, be brave. Got it!! Yahoo, perhaps if they get me and the monster to the venom E.R. show guy, I would have a chance. :) I see no other spiders around so I know….I know this was the one.
I decide to take a quick glance at the monster on my big screen (laptop) I guess I needed closure. Well wasn’t I surprised to find, “the monster” was nothing more than a dead spider carcass! To be completely honest with you I was a bit upset. Where did this this mysterious, even gigantic bite on my hand come from and why the slow, agonizing death? Time to reevaluate the situation. Could the bite be from, say….a mosquito or something. It could. Could I just have a tad of the flu and I am not really dying. I could. I guess only time will tell, but I have to tell ya, I am ‘almost’ miraculously feeling better.

So I decide to push my luck a little and go for an evening stroll. (Honey, if I’m gonna die, I’m gonna have camera in hand!) Now I’m a bit confused…again. The skies were just beautiful. Were the Heavens rejoicing my speedy recovery, or was the the light you see at the end? I decide, for the moment, to stop over analyzing the situation and enjoy it.
I mean you can’t really die from a half-way decomposed spider bite, right? Well, you know me…..I’ll be sure to keep you updated!
