LLS Comfirms Statement

This statement has been confirmed by the LLS. Misunderstandings do occur, I get that. I don’t get how it took a whole year to realize there was an issue. Anyways, hopefully it has all been resolved and they can move forward working together.
What are your thoughts, if any on the following?
Will Gretchen will be setting up a fund or foundation as she has previously claimed?
What portion of the proceeds are going to be donated to LLS?
Do you think Gretchen misrepresented the fact that all the proceeds will go to this foundation or fund?
Do you think Gretchen has misrepresented the fact that she started a foundation or fund in Jeff’s name?

Gretchen Rossi wrote and posted on public sites that she started a foundation in Jeff Beitzel’s name. She stated that the foundation was called “The Jeff Beitzel Foundation”, then called it “The Jeff Beitzel Memorial Fund”. She also stated that proceeds from the sale of her song on iTunes were going to this foundation.
That’s not misrepresentation. That’s fraud.

How could the LLS make this statement knowing Gretchen has stated she STARTED a fund/foundation in Jeffs name? This makes me feels like the LLS will protect lies for the sake of money. Shame on them. Shame on Gretchen for putting them in this situation. I have called the Attorney General and I hope the LLS is not involved in fraud.

I find this sickening, but predictable. I think Gretchen probably promised LLS that she’d make a large contribution, or somehow gift them with free advertising, etc.
The LLS is conspiring with Gretchen to cover up her fraud. That’s called complicity, and it’s as illegal as the original fraud.
Covering for Gretchen just cost the LLS a regular donor. I won’t have anything further to do with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society if they insist on following through with this sham.
Write to the National LLS headquarters and voice your complaints. There’s always someone higher up that the district director has to report to. There is a “contact us” form on the National LLS website: http://www.leukemia-lymphoma.org/all_page?item_id=353528

@Lizzie
Thank you for the link. I would hope if enough of us contact them and if the Attorney General follows through there will be action taken.
Here is the response I got from LLS
Thank You
Thank you very much for submitting your request for assistance to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). A representative from LLS will be in touch with you. For assistance by phone, please call (800) 955-4572.

I still don’t think this “Andrea Greif” is in a position to be commenting on the fiasco between Gretchen and LLS Orange County division.
A google search reveals that Andrea Greif is the public relations director for the GREATER NEW YORK CITY AREA chapter of LLS.

Piper Medcalf is the legitimate executive director of LLS, Orange County California:

This would explain why Andrea Greif didn’t use an official title, etc. — she’s the mouthpiece for LLS in NY City!!! She has nothing to do with the situation in Orange County California. How did she even get involved?
Hmmm…wasn’t Gretchen in NYC recently just before this story originally broke? Did she contact someone she knows in NYC to cover for her? This web just gets more tangled.

Thanks to those above who provided links!
This whole situation stinks of cronyism, CYA, the buddy system, under-the-table dealmaking, and pretense.
What a piece of work.

wait – so if I started a foundation for my best gal that died from breast cancer and I want to be associated with Susan G Komen – I go to Susan G Komen and I tell THEM to submit the paper work. I tell everyone that the proceeds will go to the foundation then I make cookies, Whole Foods sells the cookies – sends the money to me. I deduct the expenses for making the cookies and then I still keep a portion of the profits and I send a portion of the profits to my foundation? HUH? still very strange. I thought it was opposite – I set up the foundation, raise funds, then send a check to whatever causes my foundation helps support.

I’m with you warmblonde, the situation reeks of CYA and backroom politics.

It’s obvious this was not a mistake on the part of the LLS. Bobblehead doesn’t know the difference between a foundation and a fund. Maybe she would if she bothered to set one up! As usual, Bobblehead is perfect and everyone else is to blame. An honest person would be the first to admit it was their fault, apologize, admit embarrassment and rectify the situation openly. But not Bobblehead!!! It probably cost her a big chunk of Jeff’s money in legal fees, and a sizable donation.
The LLS made this arrangement w/ her to take the fall before they realized the full extent of her lies. She played her usual happy-go-lucky, dumb blonde routine and it worked.
Her lawyer probably wrote that letter and got the LLS PR person to sign off on it.
She’s probably dying for the opportunity to appear on the Today show to show off her new boob job. Or is it just the usual chicken cutlets?
